A marriage counselor can provide advice and manage to hold estranged couples together. There is a rise in the need for marriage counselors today with the rise in number of documented divorces. To practice as a counselor, a postgraduate with a certificate in counseling from a recognized university is a must. To be nationally certified by the National Board for Certified Counselors, the counselor needs to also have two years of work experience in addition to the master’s degree, in a similar capacity.
